Here's Sophie showing how menacing you can look while sporting twisty buns. Threatening isn't it?
This is the first year that Sophie's team has been allowed to have a keeper (goalie). They are having all the girls on the team take a turn. And as you can see--sometimes it can be a bit boring when there is nothing going on at their end. Um, peek-a-boo, no one is anywhere close to me!
Finally getting some action, Sophie is learning how to throw it in. With older brothers, the innate ability to protect yourself and your belongings is probably helpful as a keeper, wouldn't you say?
Here is part of the team enjoying their halftime snack of grapes. Just to make sure I don't cut into her eating time, Sophie is stuffing a grape down the ol' hatch.

Here is Keaton, hydrating himself so he has to use a Honey Bucket by half time.
Keaton plays keeper for half the game. He enjoys this although it is quite nerve racking as a parent. If a ball rolls by, it is your fault. No pressure though.
But hey, you get to rock a totally cool shirt that the rest of the team doesn't have. Now there's a perk!

And you get to touch the ball---with your HANDS. Although he has the bruises to show it. Keaton still has a bruise from 2 weeks ago on his elbow. Unfortunately, the boys have to be reminded that when it is in the keeper's hands, you STOP kicking. I love the look on his face. I'm pretty sure it's the same one Scott and I make while watching.
Scott and I never played growing up, but we have a total love for this sport. Camping chairs, umbrellas, blankets, and lots of wet cleats. We love soccer!
