Boys

Building upon my family's dynasty, two boys were added to our brood. Arriving first was Finn Christopher Liam to my brother Chris & his wife Kim. As is traditional for all Narvasa children--hair comes in abundance. What is not traditional--anything other than DARK hair. Januaria had my niece Kirsi with red hair last year and well, Chris showed that he too can change it up with blonde!

A trip to Boise solidified that Januaria got to see Finn FIRST. Trust me, we ALL know it. McKay went too and he too, rubbed it in. Whatever. Finn won't remember. I'll go when he REMEMBERS it. Oh who am I kidding? I won't be able to stay away that long.

McKay is the oldest cousin and here he is holding one of the youngest cousins. Time flies. And dude, I bet you cannot tell from his eyes that he was in the car for over 7 hours until late at night. Dead man walking. It's the sugar and pop talking now. All hail to Sugar Babies.

Next to arrive was Everett Austen. This is number 4 for my sister Kelsey and her hubby Mike. And as I mentioned before, LOTS of DARK hair. No doubt that he belongs to one of us.

If only they could sleep like this every night. No dice.

Keaton has always loved babies. He was thrilled to be holding Everett, especially since he was bundled up, fed, and dry.

McKay, the only one in our family who has now seen BOTH of the new cousins. Show off!
I am thrilled to have 2 new nephews. What a fun addition to our family. We have grown to 15 grandkids now. And who's in the lead? The boys.

Fishy

A couple of days ago Scott woke up to find one of our two goldfish missing. We had adopted two of them leftover from the Prom and didn't expect them to live longer than a day or so. As fate would have it, we are almost a month into it and they are going strong. So, double checking the bowl one morning, he found only one fish. As we started to walk around the kitchen, something caught his eye. Could it be? Yes, our fish was lying on the floor. Dead. A bit suspicious.

As one would expect a 7 year old girl to react, there were a few tears shed on behalf of his life. (And the 28 cents paid to Wal-Mart.) So needless to say a funeral was in order.
Luckily for Sophie (and Scott) her friend Cassidy was very touched by this fish's life as well, so she participated in the service. Shovel in hand, the three of them walk solemnly to the burial location on this sad, gray day. Here they are preparing the burial location.

A moment of silence please. Reverence people, reverence for those who have passed.
And what would the fish have wanted most? Some singing and dancing to celebrate his short life. An investigation is still underway as to the circumstances surrounding his death. It's fishy.

List

On Sophie's door I found the following list posted. Mind you, I sometimes make lists for the kids because they love checking things off when they are done. And hey...whatever motivates them to clean--I am all for it. But this is what I found: (Mind you she IS in second grade)

Pets Smar is obviously Pet Smart and with the recent addition of a goldfish (yes, I said one--there were two, but one allegedly jumped to it's death) we needed to get a bowl. Thirteen is do chores. And of course my favorite on the list are the ones like "Get marred" and "Have kids". What else would follow have kids except "name kids"? These will remain unchecked for a LONG time. It's things like this that I totally love as a mom. Totally random yet well thought out and totally Sophie. I will save this one for sure, but for now it goes back on her door. Now, the number of laughs and smiles this got from me were too many to list.
