Princess

June is always the end of the year for many things including ballet for Sophie. This year the production that they were putting on was 'Aladdin'. As you can see with all the bauble and sparkle, Sophie was a 'purple princess'. Here she is, unsuspecting of how very, very long the Dress Rehearsal was going to take..... The Rehearsal is the only time the girls get to see the entire production so getting their wiggles out now is Sophie and her fellow princesses. It's a good thing those chairs had cushions because those tiny hineys sat for a very....long....time.

Still waiting for things to start...
Imagine that...Sophie acting goofy for a picture! Silly girl.

Sophie's cousins braved Portland traffic AND a 3 hour performance in a packed house to see her performance. We saved seats and I am pleased to say there was no physical altercations as a result of that. There may or may not have been some angry words exchanged.

The VERY first thing Soph does after each class and any performance is take out her bun. She'd make a great Princess Leia if she'd just leave the things in!
Erin and Ellie came to the next afternoon's performance. There were fewer people, a drop in temperature in the theater and less hostile people.

Soph with her cousins Ellie & Erin. There was a discount if you brought people whose names started with the letter 'E'--we had a 2 for 1 deal. It was free, so I'm kidding of course. Well, it was free if you count all of the money we paid for the classes, costume, recital fee, gas money....you get the picture.

Sophie and her two best buds Kinley and Cassidy! The three Amigas are so very happy to leave at the intermission of performance number two. At this point they know they would've been there for 3 hours and they are delighted to partake of the frozen confection known as ice cream!!
I'm very proud of my daughter who may not be headed to Julliard for ballet, but continues to be happy and true to herself. She's silly and happy and more than happy to applaud for herself after she is done performing. What more could a mom ask for in her little princess?

Broke

Welcoming in the very first day of summer vacation, a teenage boy of mine participated in a battle of the airsoft variety. Unfortunately day two was spent at the dentist's office repairing the tooth that was broken, sheared, and stripped of the enamel along with a cut tongue bleeding profusely. Not happy. I'm all about having fun, but hey...it ain't no joke when something gets broke!
