Baptism

"I have been waiting a LONG time for this." Sophie told the missionaries at dinner one night. "Like 8 YEARS!!" And so it is that our youngest (sniff) was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday, August 1st. Here she is before she was baptized--all smiles and a bit of nervousness, but not much. A close up of her. She was tired of smiling and ready to socialize with all of her beloved friends and family!

Ahhh, the trio together.

Sophie loves her Dad!
And of course a family shot. Rounding everyone up these days is no easy task....

Here is Sophie with her friends Tori, Cassidy and Kinley. She has watched them all be baptized and now it was her turn.

Sophie is the youngest GIRL cousin on the Murphy side. Here she is surrounded by her older girl cousins that are so sweet to her; Tali, Hannah & Maddie!
Here Sophie is with her friend Justin who loves
to laugh just as much as she does!

And her friend Cameron who ABSOLUTELY loves to have his picture taken!

And here are some of the girl cousins on my side--Erin, Bekah, and Violet!

And here she is with her birthday buddy--Trevor. They share their birthdays and it is a fun little thing they share together!

Here is a shot of Sophie and my parents. It turned out cute! I would've liked to get one with Scott's parents as well!

This is the next day at church. Sophie got to sit up on the stand as they announced her baptism. We also sing to her in Primary. She was so excited about this day! She HAS been waiting a long time. You are everything we could've imagined our daughter to be! We love you and are so proud of you Sophie! We are glad that we could share your special day as you entered the waters of baptism.

Eight!

Our baby is now eight. It's a big birthday and one Sophie has been looking forward to for quite some time. How did she want to celebrate? Why by taking a few friends to Oaks Amusement Park which has been around since Adam and Eve I am pretty sure.

To secure the date we checked the calendar of chaos and we were able to work a Tuesday (for the buy 1 ride bracelet, get 1 free deal) Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scorcher that day. 106 degrees people. A promise is a promise!

And here are those sweet girls ready to brave the extreme heat.....so this is the before (in air conditioning) picture.

So with a backpack full of ice, water, and lemonade packets--we braved it.
And here we have everyone (cool dudes included) in our BEFORE in 106 weather picture. (Sans air conditioning.)

Cassidy and Kinley had a ride picked out and were ready to go!

The Ferris Wheel was quite refreshing and you felt a cool breeze as you went around. Definitely popular and the guy running it was a sweetheart!

Do not be fooled by this seemingly small roller coaster. It was definitely a quick one. Torynn's face shows it all. Not her favorite!
Keaton was ready to rock the Disk-O! Anything with rock n' roll baby!

Never has an ice cream cone tasted so good. NEVER.

Here is a ride favorite by several of the kids--Sophie included. I like to call it the vomit-wheel. No thank you.

Here is Sophie riding solo.

It turned out that I was going to be doing this with all the kids alone and my mom offered to help out! She was such a good sport and had a good time despite the sweltering heat! Thanks mom--you ROCK!

McKay and Tanner on the Scrambler. Another one with a cool breeze.

And here is the end of the day. There were pluses to this 106 degree weather--no lines. Who else braved it out on such a day? Few. The kids did GREAT! We downed the water and ran through sprinklers. We sat in the shade and relished every drop of ice cream. Sophie we think you're great and we'd even brave one hundred and eight
