Fans!

When I was growing up, my dad was a Season Ticket Holder
for the Blazers. Once in awhile we'd get to go to the games. That was a looooong time ago. It's been quite a few years since I've been able to go to a game--no less a PLAYOFF game. That being said, I was lucky enough to score tickets for quite cheap off Craigslist. Never-you-mind that I had to meet some guy in the Safeway Parking Lot in a city about 35 minutes from my home. Yeah, I know, the kind of stuff you see on Dateline, right?

So, to prepare and psyche myself up (like I needed it?!) I got on my Blazer Jersey.

Then I was off to pick up Scott and ride the Max Train down to the Rose Garden. As part of the whole experience, you've got to ride public transportation. People were wearing the Blazer gear, totally pumped up--the energy is incredible. Sure there were many intoxicated antics going to and fro and uh, yeah I may be part of someone's cell phone movie montage--but hey....I'm all about a little fun!

And then people are entering the Rose Garden in droves.

And you get even more excited knowing how fun this is going to be!
And we got there so early so that we could make sure said tickets would work and we could get in! It was so fun to watch the Garden fill up with people. I could people watch all day!

And a successful win! My boys may have not won the series, but they're still young and what a great team! Next year will be a good one.
So it was a rare moment. Nostalgic. Reminding me of the days when I was young and got to sit up so close to the team. The loud music blaring. The crowd clapping, yelling, and jumping to their feet. A blimp flying around dropping off coupons for free frozen yogurt. It was a rocking night in the Garden and it reminded me of why we will always be fans!

War!

What could a 14-year old boy want for his birthday? How about have a couple of friends with airsoft weapons in tow to join him on his aunt & uncle's 5 acre property and shoot at each other?! Perfect! And so for McKay's Birthday that is exactly what we did.

Now here is McKay and his friend Hyrum. We attempted to get a nice, pleasant smile of the two. No can do. Hey, they're having fun at least!

And here is Uncle Mike, the king of all strategy games. Are you listening? Watching? Waiting? Become one with your gun.

Oh and here is Scott. A total poser. He looks menacing right? No, we didn't think so either.

Sam and McKay discussing the war and what took place. Yes, Sam did get shot in the bottom. Possibly more than once. Maybe that is why he is standing.

And after a couple of hours of play time, the boys chilled by the fire and enjoyed some s'mores. No one was burned. Surprising, isn't it?

And what goes well with s'mores? Ice cream! It made me sick just watching these boys eat the two. Oh to be young again . . .

Kyle, Houston, & Scott checking their options. Poor Scott--do you see the tiny pistol in his hand? Not a chance in...well...you know.

Here is McKay and Houston. Cheese!

A good time was had by all. And despite the fact that my teenage son drew a mustache on his upper lip with a PERMANENT sharpie--it was a successful birthday. And my son, for the ammo shot at your mother when she was unarmed--sleep with one eye open. I declare WAR!
